SADHU SUNDER SINGH WELFARE SOCIETY

In 1991, under the presidency of Baba John Dayal, the Sadhu Sunder Singh Welfare Society was registered as a charitable organization. The society was named after the legendary Sadhu Sunder Singh who renounced all worldly pleasures and possessions to become a saint. He devoted his life to selfless service to the people, sharing in their suffering irrespective of any religion, cast or creed, and gained international recognition for his preaching on God during the period between 1914 to 1929.

BAL VIHAR CHILDREN HOME

In 1995, Baba John Dayal established an orphanage by the name of Bal Vihar. He began with only four children and no money in hand. Bal Vihar emerged from the need to provide care and protection to children who are orphans or from broken families, and have been languishing in the quagmire of apathy and distress. The police, J.J. Slum department and various other social organizations and workers have been bringing children to this orphanage. Initially he started running orphanage from a bashment near the existing premises. The children of 3to4 years of age were brought up by him giving love and affection of mother and father both.

ABOUT LATE BABA JOHN DAYAL

Born in 1889 to a wealthy Sikh family in Rampur, Punjab, Sadhu Sunder Singh converted to Christianity in search of peace and joy. He was invited to share his visions and experiences in many countries including England, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the United States.

He faced lot of inconvenience in bringing up the children and establishing the credibility of Bal Vihar. Subsequently his efforts were recognized by the society and he got enough help to expand the premises and was respected as selfless soul.

After the death of Late Baba John Dayal in year 2008.The committee headed by Mr S P Rai take over the management of society he was helped by Mr. Vishal, Mr Jaiwant Daulat Singh, Subsequently It was felt by the member of society that enough transparency in the accounts was not being maintained the audit of accounts and induction of new members in the governing body became overdue. The management was approached many donors and well-wishers including Mr.Vishal and Mr Jaiwant Daulat Singh to take corrective measures. Subsequently court was informed about the situation and two receivers from Jamia Melia University i.e Mrs. Professor Anjali Gandhi and Professor Neelam Sukhramani were appointed to monitoring the working of society.

In spite of all efforts by receivers the situation did not improve. Ultimately as case of contempt of court No 462/2010 was established against Mr. S P Rai.

In 2012 the Honorable High Court decided to change the management and new working body was set up with under the supervision of court receivers Mrs.Anjali Gandhi and Mrs. Neelam Sukhramani was ordered. In turn a small committee with Wg Cdr K L Kapoor (Retd.) as officiating director was set up.
